Designing Livable Streets: Community-Building, Conflict, Consensus, Compromise and Creation

Leadership on safe streets comes from all levels of government. Vocal political leadership from city council members, mayors, and public officials is essential to building community support and creating the political environment necessary for city transportation staff to implement safe street projects. Strong leadership and vision from elected officials can also help encourage DOTs to raise the bar.

In this session, hear from two prominent City Council members / Aldermen, along with their DOT counterparts, and hear the steps, challenges, setbacks, and breakthroughs needed for leaders to pave the way for better transportation in our cities.
