NACTO Announces New Executive Board Leadership

Jan 19, 2016

NEW YORK (January 19, 2015) – NACTO is excited to announce the election of Los Angeles Department of Transportation General Manager Seleta Reynolds as the Board’s President, as well as Seattle Department of Transportation Director Scott Kubly as the Board’s Vice President. The Board’s previous President, San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency Director Ed Reiskin, has stepped down following his two-year term.

“We’re thrilled to have Seleta and Scott’s leadership as NACTO continues to chart an ambitious course,” said NACTO Executive Director Linda Bailey. “Seleta has participated for years in the NACTO network, making expert contributions to the Urban Street Design Guide. Scott has consistently demonstrated his commitment to creating cities that are designed around walking, biking, and transit.”

“From the largest ever Designing Cities conference in Austin to street safety advances in cities coast to coast to the upcoming Transit Street and Global Street design guides, the last two years under the leadership of President Ed Reiskin have been some of the most successful in NACTO’s history,” commented NACTO Chair Janette Sadik-Khan. “Thankfully our non-stop collaboration with cities across the continent means we have a deep bench of world-class transportation talent ready to carry his mantle. With Seleta Reynolds as our incoming President, Scott Kubly joining as Vice President, and Danny Pleasant, Crissy Fanganello and Robin Hutcheson continuing their crucial leadership roles, there’s no doubt that this organization’s game will get even stronger in 2016.”

“Transportation continues to be a powerful tool in solving city challenges, from a renewed focus on public space and street safety, to new models for shared mobility,” said Seleta Reynolds. “I’m honored to serve as NACTO’s President as we grapple with the important work ahead.”

“NACTO has grown into a leading voice on urban transportation issues, and I’m excited and honored to serve as NACTO Vice President,” added Scott Kubly.

At the conclusion of his two-year term as President, Ed Reiskin said, “It’s been a great honor to serve as NACTO’s President for the past two years.  The Board and staff worked tremendously hard and effectively to improve transportation in our cities.  And as much as we’ve accomplished, I’m even more optimistic about the next two years under Seleta’s leadership.  NACTO has positioned itself well to be an indispensable part of enabling better, safer ways for us to get around our cities.”
