Richard Smithers has been Transport Policy Coordinator at the City of Melbourne for six years. He was project leader for the Council’s Transport Strategy 2012, its Walking Plan 2014 and its response to the East West Link road project. He has contributed to many other projects including the transport requirements for City of Melbourne’s urban development areas, Bike Plan 2012-16, car sharing policy, street masterplans, last kilometre freight, Melbourne Metro rail and high speed rail. Prior to this he was Transport Coordinator at the nearby City of Yarra and prior to that Campaign Coordinator at Bicycle Victoria (now Bicycle Network).
