Paul Chasan

Title: Parklet Project Manager, City of San Francisco, Pavement to Parks Program

Paul manages the Parklet program at the San Francisco Planning Department and is the lead urban designer for the Department’s Green Connections project—a citywide green street plan currently underway that seeks to improve access to open space by building sustainable corridors that facilitate walking and biking for people of all ages, reduce stormwater runoff, calm traffic and create and enhance wildlife habitat. Paul has over 10 years’ experience working in various capacities in positions related to the built environment in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. Previous work has focused on sustainable design, transit oriented communities and complete streets. Paul formerly also worked at Great City, a non-profit that advocated for sustainable urbanism in Seattle. Paul has a bachelor’s degree in Cultural Anthropology from Western Washington University and master’s degrees in Urban Planning and Landscape Architecture from the University of Washington.
