Joseph Kopser is the CEO and co-founder of RideScout, an Austin start-up in the transportation industry. He is also Co-Chairman of the Defense Energy Summit (Austin, Texas 11-13th Nov 2013). Prior to RideScout, Joseph spent 20 years as Army officer after graduating from West Point as an Aerospace Engineer in 1993. Before, moving to Austin, Joseph served in the Pentagon as a Special Assistant to the Army Chief of Staff. During his Army career, he earned distinction as a Cavalry officer, Bronze Star recipient and Army Ranger. In addition to numerous logistical and leadership positions, he received a Masters in Government Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School. Recently, he became a Next Generation Project Texas Fellow at the Strauss Center for International Security and Law at UT-Austin with a focus on Energy Policy. He serves on the Board of Directors of the CleanTX Foundation as well as a founding member of the Steering Committee for the Defense Energy Center of Excellence Initiative (DECEI). He lives in Austin with his wife and three daughters.
