Ashley has 29 years’ broad experience in both the public and private sectors covering transportation planning, project planning, project delivery, business planning and management.
Following ten years in consulting during which he moved from the UK to Toronto to establish and lead a new company office, he joined the City of Toronto in summer 2015 as Director of Transportation Infrastructure Management with responsibility for developing and implementing strategies, policies and systems related to the preservation and enhancement of the City of Toronto transportation infrastructure as well as the development and delivery of capital projects. In August 2016 he took over as Acting General Manager of Transportation Services during the search for a new permanent General Manager and since February 2017 has been the Senior Strategic Director, Capital Programs. In this role he oversees asset management, capital planning and project development across all modes, road safety Vision Zero, traffic and congestion management and public realm, along with development and management of the Transportation Services $450M annual capital budget and $350M operating budget.
