Sarah Jones has been the Planning Director at the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency since 2016, and oversees a wide range of programs and projects intended to implement San Francisco’s Transit First policy by enhancing the degree to which the transportation system supports an equitable and economically viable city. SFMTA Planning looks at transportation today and for the future, spanning transportation demand management, the integration of new development and transportation, neighborhood- and corridor-scale multimodal planning and projects, sustainability, and long-range planning and policy. Sarah brings a planner’s perspective to transportation. Prior to joining SFMTA, she was Director of Environmental Planning at the San Francisco Planning Department. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from Stanford University and a Master of City Planning from UC Berkeley. She lives in San Francisco with her husband and two teenage children.
