James Perttula was appointed Director of Transit and Transportation Planning for the City of Toronto in September 2016. Prior to shifting to planning transit for the City of Toronto in December 2014, James spent most of his career exploring transportation, economic and municipal policy issues with the Ontario provincial government. His experience in transportation covers a broad range of regulatory and policy matters related to trucking, goods movement and transit. James has a degree in urban planning from the University of Waterloo, and a degree in public administration from Carleton University in Ottawa. James alternates between transit and cycling in his daily commute to City Hall.
