Craig Toocheck is a Staff Engineer with the City of Pittsburgh. Formerly, he was Program Analyst/Designer at NACTO. Beginning his career at NACTO in July 2014 as a Designing Cities Fellow, he is one of the principal authors and designers of the Transit Street Design Guide, and worked with cities to incorporate the lessons from the TSDG into their transit plans. He was also involved in coordinating and carrying out NACTO trainings and workshops, graphic design for NACTO publications, and working with Member cities to keep NACTO guidance on the vanguard of the practice.
Craig is a graduate of UC Berkeley, where he received a Master’s in City Planning, focusing on the nexus between urban design and transportation. Before heading to Cal, he received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the Catholic University of America in Washington DC; spent a year studying and working in urban planning in Germany as part of the federally-sponsored Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange program; and worked with a number of planning-related organizations in his native Pittsburgh.
