Join NACTO on Wednesday, October 30 for the fifth members-only webinar in our series about the 11th edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). We’ll cover what the MUTCD says about bike design and MUTCD-compliant strategies for designing streets for bikes.
In December 2023, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) published the 11th Edition of the MUTCD, the first update to the manual in almost 15 years. NACTO is educating member agencies on the changes in the 11th Edition with a series of webinars on topics including speed limits, crosswalks, signal warrants, bike design and signals, transit, and automated vehicles.
Part 9 of the 11th Edition of the MUTCD covers traffic control for bicycle facilities. These chapters include many new features for the first time, including separated bike lanes, protected intersection design principles, and two-stage turn boxes. Other updates to the 11th edition, such as the untested signs accompanying bike signals, may make bikeway design more complicated.
Event times (by time zone): 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. ADT | 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. EDT | 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. CDT | 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. MDT | 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. PD | 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. HDT.
Please note: This event is only open to staff of NACTO member cities and partner agencies. Staff of member cities and agencies can register via the link shared in NACTO’s community listserv or by emailing [email protected].
