The nation’s foremost design training for urban streets is coming to Memphis, TN. A workshop based on the NACTO Urban Street Design Guide will be convened by the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) in conjunction with the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO), with support from the US DOT Federal Highway Administration.
Participants will analyze a corridor and a critical intersection in Memphis, evaluating its potential as a multimodal street and applying interim design strategies, intersection design strategies, and street typologies, as well as other topics addressed in the Guide.
The design charrette format will incorporate classroom and field activities, and will provide a forum for dialogue and engagement between engineers, planners, and other stakeholders. The registration includes a copy of the Urban Street Design Guide, beverage breaks, and lunch.
