An integral part of the urban design decision-making process is collecting and incorporating public input. To ensure that the public realm reflects a community’s vision, cities are experimenting with new strategies for participatory planning and engagement. In addition to town hall forums and public meetings, city officials are using emerging technologies and social media tools, opening new channels of communication with diverse groups. This session will highlight outreach tools and techniques to reach new audiences, share information, collect feedback, and improve the public’s perception of an agency’s transparency and effectiveness.
