For the past 70 years, transportation policy in the U.S. and Canada has resulted in rising traffic fatalities, automobile dependence, and design practices that are unsustainable. Cities have long led efforts to improve transportation, but they can’t succeed alone.
NACTO advocates for local, state, and federal change in transportation policy, design, and funding to help cities achieve their goals.
NACTO helps cities identify and advocate for legislation and regulatory changes that will support safer, multimodal transportation systems. We engage governments at all levels, harness and elevate the voices of our members, analyze policy proposals, and inform members of major policy actions and opportunities from U.S. DOT, Congress, and other governmental bodies.
