Tom Sorrentino is a Senior Project Manager with the Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT), where he manages and oversees the planning, design and implementation of a wide variety of new and retrofit “complete streets” projects. He was a key participant in the development of the city’s first Transportation Action Plan (TAP) and Urban Street Design Guidelines (USDG), two guiding documents which together form the framework for Charlotte’s “context sensitive” policies. Tom played an integral role in the implementation of the $50 million South Corridor Infrastructure Program (SCIP) which provided pedestrian, bicycle and transit route enhancements along Charlotte’s first light rail transit corridor. He also participated in the design and construction of freeway interchange modifications and surface street improvements for the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Prior to living and working in North Carolina, Tom spent 20 years working for municipalities in both Los Angeles and San Francisco.
