Tim, a licensed Civil Engineer, earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of California at Davis in 1979 and went to work for Caltrans in their San Francisco District Office shortly thereafter. Tim’s 36-year career with Caltrans includes stints as a project engineer in design, resident engineer in construction, and policy development and liaison engineer in their headquarters Special Funded Programs.
In 1991, Tim joined what is now the Division of Design. He has served as a design reviewer, project development coordinator, Chief of the Office of Project Development Procedures, program manager for the retrofit soundwall program, and Assistant Division Chief.
He has served as Interim Division Chief for Right of Way and Land Surveys, Interim Assistant Division Chief of Construction, and Interim Assistant Division Chief of Traffic Operations.
In June 2013, Tim was appointed the Division Chief of Design where he is responsible for the development and implementation of statewide roadway and roadside design standards, procedures and policies.
