Stephanie Shaw

Stephanie Shaw is Chief of Staff of the Street Improvement Programs sub-division at the New York City Department of Transportation. Stephanie helps oversee NYC DOT’s Bicycle Unit, Pedestrian Unit, and Public Space Unit, as well as the agency’s ambitious Street Improvement Program which implements over 100 safety projects annually. This is Stephanie’s second stint at DOT; she initially joined the agency in 2011 where she helped create, launch and oversee New York City’s bike sharing program, Citi Bike. In between her tenures at DOT she worked on Governors Island helping to shepherd the construction and design of the second phase of the park on Governors Island, the Hills. Stephanie is a mom, urbanist, feminist, bicycle enthusiast, foodie and dog lover. She received a Master of Urban Planning degree from the NYU Wagner School of Public Service and a B.A. in International Relations from Boston University.
