Shagithya Deivendran has been working in policy development within the transportation sector since 2014. Her areas of focus have been stakeholder engagement, government relations, research and regulation. Shagithya is currently a Project Lead on Automated Vehicles for the City of Toronto. She has contributed to a number of AV-related initiatives for the City including a review of the Municipal Code, a variety of consultation and public education pieces, and most notably, the City of Toronto’s Draft Automated Vehicles Tactical Plan. Shagithya is currently responsible for acting as Secretariat for the City’s Interdivisional Working Group on Automated Vehicles, empowering parallel City Divisions to prepare for this emerging technology, and finalizing as well as engaging stakeholders on the Tactical Plan for City Council in October 2019.
Shagithya has previously worked on transportation-related plans and policies like the Toronto 360 Wayfinding Strategy, and the City of London’s Transportation Master Plan; and has a variety of work experience in the banking industry. She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto in Criminology and Political science; as well as a graduate diploma in Justice System Administration, and a master’s degree in Public Policy, Administration and Law from York University.
