Saravana Suthanthira, AICP, Senior Transportation Planner with Alameda CTC, has over fifteen years of transportation planning and engineering experience. Her work focuses on congestion management, particularly performance measurement using big data. She recently led and completed a comprehensive performance evaluation effort of the I-680 Express Lane, the first Express Lane in the Bay Area, to report to the California State Legislature. She currently serves as the chair for the Arterial Operations Committee of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission. Also, recognizing the mutual benefit in sharing the information from the congestion management efforts that occurs across the region, Saravana formed and leads the region’s Congestion Management Program Working Group to facilitate information sharing since 2011. She holds degrees in Civil Engineering (with Distinction) and Planning from Anna University, India, as well as in Urban Planning from Indiana University.
