Sameeh S. Barkho has been with NYC DOT since 1989, and for the last seven years, has been the Chief of Highway Design & Construction. He began his tenure with the agency in the Bureau of Bridges, moved to Geometric Design and currently manages more than 70 employees in his division. His team is instrumental in NYC DOT’s success, as they maintain all roadway markings in NYC, review and comment on all roadway designs, propose interventions and manage multiple contracts. Some of the more high-profile design achievements include: Green Light for Midtown, 1st and 2nd Avenues, Grand Army Plaza and Hylan Boulevard. As licensed professional engineer, Sameeh secured both a Bachelors and Masters of Science in Civil Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and holds various awards for outstanding work performance. He lives in New Jersey with his wife and three daughters.
