Randy Wade A.I.C.P. has been redesigning NYC streets as the Pedestrian Projects Group Director for the NYC Department of Transportation since 1997. She supervises a multidisciplinary and talented team of planners, engineers and urban designers seeking to improve pedestrian safety, increase accessibility and enhance the environment. She created the first “instant” public space in the roadbed using plastic planters as protective safety devices with bridge recycled granite blocks in 1997. Her background combines a BFA and MA in Sculpture with an Urban Planning Master Degree. As one of the earlier pedestrian advocates in NYC, she founded Walk NY in 1992.
