Title: Knowledge for Policy Director, Bernard van Leer Foundation
NACTO Title: Speaker, Designing Cities Conference
Patrin Watanatada

Believing that great ideas—smartly communicated—can change the world, Patrin’s professional focus is helping organisations use knowledge to make a bigger social impact. She joined BvLF in 2015 to set up the Knowledge for Policy team to develop and share policy and programming ideas to better serve babies, toddlers and the people who care for them. She is also the liaison for BvLF’s global work on air quality and caregiver mental health.

For more than 15 years, Patrin has worked in organisations that develop, sell (literally and figuratively) and share ideas, including a sustainable business think tank and advisory firm in London, a rice husk power plant start-up in Bangkok, a financial services strategy consultancy in New York City, and the first full-service social change communications agency in the United States. Her first job after university was as a classroom assistant at a Montessori preschool, and she is delighted to be once again working for young children every day. She holds an MA in international business and trade relations from the Fletcher School at Tufts University and a BA in philosophy and linguistics from University College London.

Patrin grew up in a Thai family outside Washington, DC, spent many formative years in London and is currently learning Dutch from her toddler son.
