Matt Eierman is with the City of Sacramento Parking Services Division and has served as the City’s Parking Division Manager since 2013, overseeing a staff of 142 employees who provide support as unit managers, parking lot personnel, parking enforcement officers, parking meter operations, city right-of-way management, maintenance and custodial staff.
Mr. Eierman has also served in other functions with the Parking Division for over 10 years prior to his current position, including the division’s Operations General Supervisor and Administrative Officer overseeing the City’s off-street and parking meter operations. Prior to City service, Matt was a member of the senior management team for AMPCO Parking where he first started his professional parking career as a valet driver.
Mr. Eierman was instrumental in the implementation of the City of Sacramento’s Parking Modernization movement. This process included an overhaul of parking policies, technologies, operations and equipment. These changes were necessary to balance the anticipated parking and transportation management needs with the addition of new businesses, growth in residential housing, the Railyard expansion and Golden 1 Center.
In a short period of two years, innovations such as online parking reservations, shared parking strategy, online residential permits, upgrades with advanced garage equipment, license plate recognition technology, new parking management business lines, wayfinding signs and a comprehensive Certified Partners Program were implemented. This involved years of extensive outreach with community and business groups, marketing campaigns and media coverage.
