As the City of Los Angeles’ first Pedestrian Coordinator, Margot led the development of the City’s first public placemaking program, People St. She now manages the City’s Safe Routes to School in partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District, the 2nd largest district in the nation. She oversees the design of school neighborhood street engineering improvement plans, and the development and implementation of safety education and enforcement activities in partnership with the Los Angeles School Police and Los Angeles Police Department. Her work has facilitated City Council’s adoption of the SRTS prioritization methodology for over 800 schools, launch of the SRTS Action Plan, the Youth Safety Study, and institutionalizing of annual Walk to School and Student Travel Tally Days.
