Margot Ocañas serves as Pedestrian Coordinator with the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT). Margot’s work focuses on promoting pedestrian issues, establishing citywide coalitions and crafting plans and policies to support implementation of pedestrian improvements.
In her role with the Active Transportation Division, Margot develops and implements infrastructural and programmatic pedestrian projects including the City’s Safe Routes to School Strategic Initiative, Evaluative Metrics for Active Transportation, People S and, Great Streets projects.
Previously with the Los Angeles County Department of Health, Margot managed $5M in Complete Streets plan development with the City. Margot brings prior management experience at Opus Firm, Dell Computer Corporation, Booz Allen Hamilton and SRI International to this new City position. Margot holds Masters Degrees in Business Administration and International Affairs from Columbia University, New York, and is a Fulbright Scholar in Mandarin.
