Jessica Wurwarg has a background in both urban development and food. Currently she is the Chief of Staff of External Affairs at NYC’s Department of Transportation and manages the Summer Streets Program. She is an Adjunct Instructor at NYU’s Center for Global Affairs and at the New School University’s Food Studies Program, teaching the courses on international food security, rising food prices and urbanization. Jessica also teaches classes about cheese and wine at the Artisanal Premium Cheese Center. Jessica worked at the World Bank on Sustainable Urban Development issues in Latin America and before joining the World Bank she worked as an urban planner for the City of New York’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development, on affordable housing, food policy and open space issues. She has also worked as a chef and managed open air farmers markets in New York and London. From New York originally, Jessica has a Master’s of Science from the Cities Programme at the London School of Economics and a Bachelor’s degree from Brown University.
