Jay Kriegel is a Senior Advisor at Related Companies where he focuses on business strategy and project development. Prior to joining Related in May 2007, Mr. Kriegel served for over a decade as Counsellor to the financial communications firm of Abernathy MacGregor where he focused on strategic communications with an emphasis on public policy for governments and business, including work for the President of Kazakhstan and the Prime Minister of Turkey.
From 1997 through 2005, Mr. Kriegel served as Executive Director of NYC2012, where he spearheaded New York City’s campaigns to host the Olympic Games.
Mr. Kriegel has also previously served as Senior Vice President of CBS Inc. and Chief of Staff/Special Counsel to former New York Mayor John V. Lindsay. He was Co-Founder and Publisher of The American Lawyer magazine and Director of Special Projects for Loews Corporation. He has also assisted the City of New York in national campaigns to save the deductibility of state and local taxes in the Tax Reform Act of 1986 and to preserve the use of eminent domain for essential redevelopment in 2006.
Mr. Kriegel currently serves on the board of Prep for Prep, Wildcat Service Corporation, The After School Corporation and New Visions for Public Schools, the Steering Committee of the Association for a Better New York (ABNY), the President’s Council of Cooper Union, the MoMA Marketing Committee, the Advisory Board of the NYU Center for Global Affairs and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
