Janet M. Barlow is President of Accessible Design for the Blind. As a certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist, she has extensive experience teaching street crossing skills to pedestrians who are blind or visually impaired and has worked for the past ten years on research related to accessibility of sidewalks and street crossings to pedestrians with disabilities. She was a member of the Access Board’s Public Rights-of-Way Access Advisory Committee and consults on accessibility issues. Janet is currently involved in research as a member of the teams of the National Eye Institute project, Blind Pedestrians’ Access to Complex Intersections, NCHRP Project 3-62, Guidelines for Accessible Pedestrian Signals and FHWA TOPR34, Accelerating Roundabout Implementation in the United States.
