Jake Levitas is an organizer and designer focused on improving cities using design, art, and technology. He most recently served as an Innovation Fellow in the San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Civic Innovation, where he helped pioneer several participatory urban design initiatives, including Living Innovation Zones and the Market Street Prototyping Festival, to which he now serves as Senior Advisor. Prior to his work with the Mayor’s Office, he was Research Director at Gray Area, the urban art and technology center in San Francisco, where he led the Urban Prototyping Festival and other initiatives applying creative technology and design to civic issues. He began his career in the Planning Group at Arup where he built urban maps, resource models, and data visualizations. He holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Economics from Washington University in St. Louis.
