Grant McInnes leads Arup’s Land Development offering in San Francisco and specializes in sustainable infrastructure planning, design and implementation.
Grant has over 16 years of experience as a member and leader of multidisciplinary teams on a diverse variety of land development, master planning and civil engineering projects in the US, UK, Europe and Asia. He is particularly adept at using his civil engineering design and management skills to inform decisions on site infrastructure design concepts and frame solutions grounded in achieving efficient and sustainable outcomes.
One of Grant’s greatest strengths is his ability to develop rapport with project contributors and approval agencies. He has proven ability in building consensus between multiple project stakeholders with differing desires, and is able to clearly communicate complex technical concepts in easily understandable terms.
He has extensive green infrastructure and streetscape design experience in the Bay Area. He is currently leading Arup’s engineering team on the Downtown Berkeley BART Plaza and Shattuck Reconfiguration improvement projects and the Folsom Streetscape and Oscar Park project in San Francisco. Other projects of note include Bay Meadows Phase II in San Mateo, which incorporates a multi-purpose pond and over 30 streetscape bioretention planters. His low-impact development focused approach resulted in his design for Stanford’s Knight Management Center being awarded the 2012 Site Development Award for Institutional Projects by Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program for its integrated water efficiency and stormwater quality management program.
