David C. Woessner is an expert in topics of globalization, localization and emerging technologies and has written articles and whitepapers on mobility, connectivity and automotive technology hubs. He has over 15 years of executive leadership, strategy, business development, sales and relationship management experience. He has worked with Fortune 500 companies, startups, private equity, venture capitalist, academic and government entities.
David currently serves as the first General Manager of Local Motors in Detroit and Washington DC. He is responsible for operations of the educational, sales and demonstration facility in National Harbor, MD. His primary focus is working with local stakeholders to develop and build a full Microfactory in the Washington DC region to produce locally relevant vehicles. Additionally, his objective is to also establish Local Motors’ presence and an associated Microfactory in the Motor City while helping usher in a new industrial age of vehicle innovation and technology.
Prior to joining LM, David served as Senior Advisor, for Jobs & The Economy for Mayor Duggan in the City of Detroit. As a City Advocate he lead development of strategies and policies to create a business environment that would enable corporate entities to successfully grow their organizations.
Previously, David was a Managing Principal at P3 Group’s Strategy Consulting Practice where he lead business development, marketing and sales across the Americas. Prior to P3, David spent 4 years at Deloitte Consulting in the Strategy and Operations practice working on Global M&A within various industries, primarily automotive and technology. David started his career at IBM, where he was the #1 participant of the annual Global Sales School in 2004 and became the youngest Client Executive in the Industrial Sector supporting the Daimler Chrysler Integrated Account.
David earned his MBA and MS in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology while serving multiple terms on the National Society of Black Engineers’ National Board of Directors. He received his BA in Physics and German from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
David enjoys playing soccer and basketball while also coaching youth sports, he fully embraces his German & Moroccan culture and the live, work and play model that National Harbor, MD has to offer.
