Carniesha Kwashie, is the Director of the Job Opportunity Investment Network (JOIN) at United Way of Greater Philadelphia& Southern New Jersey. As the Director of JOIN, which is also a member of the National Fund for Workforce Solutions, Carniesha oversees workforce development investments and their impact in 8 counties regionally. In partnership with Corporation for a Skilled Workforce (CSW) and Race Forward, Carniesha has developed and is implementing the nation’s first Workforce Benchmark Network initiative to launch with a racial and social equity focus in September 2018. Prior to directing JOIN, Carniesha was at the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Transportation and Infrastructure Systems (OTIS), where she managed a national initiative called the Better Bike Share Partnership, as well as, the award winning Indego Bike Share Program. Indego is considered the national model for a socially equitable bike share program due to Carniesha’s leadership and successful implementation of the system’s equity goals. Carniesha has a BA in both African- American Studies and Psychology from Temple University and an MS in Interior Architecture and Design from Drexel University. She resides in Philadelphia with her husband and daughter.
