Bill Schultheiss is a national leader in sustainable safety and complete street design. He has helped Toole Design Group transform the City of Boston, Seattle, and Washington, DC into leading bicycle and pedestrian friendly communities. An accomplished engineer, Bill has retrofitted over 250 miles of streets throughout the U.S. to provide people the ability to safely walk, bicycle, or access transit if they desire as well as to improve the quality of life of residents. He is an Associate Voting Member representing the League of American Bicyclists on the National Committee on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (NCUTCD). He uses his knowledge of research, best practices and implementation to develop design guidance which advances complete streets goals and safety in the transportation profession. A former elected official, Bill understands the importance of effective public engagement. This ability helps him build support and trust with public works staff, elected officials, advocates and community members for projects. He frequently speaks at events, conferences and webinars.
