One high-quality bike or bus lane is great, but, on its own, one project is rarely enough to significantly change how people get around. As traffic fatalities continue to increase and the planet continues to warm, cities are looking to do more, better and faster; scaling up their efforts to meet the needs of the moment. Making the shift from project-by-project delivery to a programmatic framework is key.
In this interactive workshop, join NACTO and Delivery Associates as we explore a practical roadmap for scaling up, identifying ways that cities can streamline and improve approaches to engagement, planning, delivery, and evaluation and helping chart a path for cities to go from building one-off transportation projects to developing programs that implement excellent projects, at scale – year after year.
Using real-world examples gathered from cities across North America, participants will explore all parts of the project cycle – policy, planning, engagement, design, procurement, and implementation – with a focus on ways their cities can structure their teams and refine their processes to quickly and consistently implement high impact transportation projects.
