The Silver Line rapid bus project was originally envisioned to connect the residents of Roxbury (home to low-income and black and brown families) to downtown, the seaport, and to the airport. Instead, thanks to local politics and advocacy, it was converted into three projects—Downtown to Roxbury, South Station to Seaport and the Airport, and South Station to the town of Chelsea. How has the project impacted the transportation network in the Boston area in the last decade, and what changes will the next ten years bring? Participants will ride key sections of this bus network, observing tunnels, dedicated rights-of-way and other key features of the project.
