NACTO Lunch & Learn with Mara Mintzer: Engaging with children in street design projects (Members-Only)

NACTO’s Lunch & Learn sessions provide a casual virtual space for NACTO members to share and learn from peers across the country. Have your lunch or snack handy—depending on your time zone—and join this generative space for dynamic conversation led by NACTO staff and members.

On November 12, we’ll talk about engaging children in street design projects with Growing Up Boulder co-founder Mara Mintzer. She literally wrote the book on the topic: Placemaking with Children and Youth: Participatory Practices for Planning Sustainable Communities was published in 2018. (Use the promo code PEACE20 to purchase the book for a discount!)

Mara Mintzer is the current Executive Director of Growing Up Boulder (GUB). She helped found the organization in 2009 and served as one of its Co-Coordinators. A passionate advocate for child-friendly cities, Mara presents and writes internationally on the topic of engaging young people in inclusive community planning and development.

Mara will share a presentation that will inspire re-thinking and re-designing city streets based on including a children-friendly city perspective in planning and policy-making. There will also be time for a Q&A with Mara and fellow members.

Event times (by time zone): 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. AST | 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. EST | Noon to 1 p.m. CST | 11 a.m. to noon MST | 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. PST | 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. HST.
