Whether you’ve been riding for years or are just getting back on a bike, intersections can act as barriers and keep people from biking in cities across America and here in Chicago. As Chicago has expanded its protected bike lane network, various intersection treatments have been used to make sure intersections are both safe and comfortable. Come for a walk through the Loop to see a wide variety of different approaches that look to address vehicle / bike / pedestrian interactions through elimination and mitigation of those conflicts. You will see protected intersections, signal separation, mixing zones, bike through lanes, transit applications, and one-way and two-way protected bike lane examples.
