Spend your last day of the conference riding around Chicago to see and hear why Bicycling Magazine named Chicago the “Best Bike City” in the United States in 2016 (one of the reasons? It’s flat!). This tour will combine portions of the shorter tours offered on Tuesday and Wednesday and highlight almost all of the design elements found in NACTO’s Urban Bikeway Design Guide. City staff and local advocates will lead the tour and discuss some of Chicago’s biggest successes in building out its bike network – including the Divvy Bike Share system, the downtown protected bike lane network, the Bloomingdale Trail and 606 Park, and new bridges providing access to the Lakefront Trail for all Chicagoans. Participants will also hear about the challenges local officials face and strategies for overcoming these challenges.
