Cities across the U.S. are building more, and higher-quality bike lane networks – resulting in more riders, and increased safety for those taking to two wheels on our cities’ streets. However, this increasingly-popular mode for getting around is not equally accessible to all communities, with barriers to cycling often found not on the paint on the ground, but in social and institutional frameworks.
In this session, see what researchers are finding about the barriers to biking in diverse communities, and how cities and community organizations are teaming up to address barriers beyond paint and road signs.
