Mayor Steve Adler took office as Austin’s 52nd mayor in January 2015. His campaign platform included tackling traffic and creating an integrated multimodal transportation plan for Austin. In his first year in office, he has focused on both immediate relief for Austin’s serious traffic congestion and on longer-term strategies for transportation demand management and multimodal improvements.
He previously practiced civil rights law and eminent domain law in Austin, and served as chief of staff and general counsel for State Senator Eliot Shapleigh. He has been involved with Austin civic and non-profit institutions for over two decades.
