Integrating New Tools and Methods to Meet New Definitions of Success
Over the past decade, the goal of urban transportation projects has shifted from moving traffic to moving people, transforming rights of way into lively, enticing public spaces. New definitions of success call for new methods to evaluate potential impacts and track goals – yet in most cases cities still rely on a set of outdated tools to measure the performance of their streets. Performance Measures for Sustainable Streets will spotlight cutting-edge approaches for evaluating access, mobility, livability and environmental sustainability such as Multi-Modal LOS, public life surveys and sustainable street design rating systems, examining how cities can take the next step to incorporate these performance measures into their standard operations.
