Automated Parking Enforcement Considerations and Best Practices

Sep 24, 2026 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm ET (noon-1 pm PT)

Many NACTO members are using — or looking to use — automated enforcement for bus lanes, bus stops, bike lanes, and general curb management. We’ve invited Ann Shikany and Erin Clark, policy leads at Hayden AI, to help shed light on common best practices and pitfalls.

We’ll start with an overview of best practices for automated on-street parking enforcement programs that support urban mobility, including those focused on transit or general curb management. We will discuss issues related to privacy and data retention, how to engage the public, and the safe usage of artificial intelligence.

We will also discuss how to translate these best practices into state or local authorizing legislation, including potential pain points. We’ll highlight some existing authorizing legislative language, discuss coordination among various agencies, and consider your potential role in a program.

This event is only open to staff at NACTO member agencies. Member agency staff can access registration details on our community forum.
