New York City – National Association of City Transportation Officials President and New York City Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan today issued the following statement in response to the Senate passage of the federal surface transportation bill (S. 1819).

“The National Association of City Transportation Officials commends the United States Senate for passage of a bipartisan multi-year surface transportation bill that will create hundreds of thousands of jobs while providing desperately needed certainty and funding for construction and improvement of roads, bridges, and transit projects in our nation’s largest cities,” said Janette Sadik-Khan, New York City Transportation Commissioner and National Association of City Transportation Officials President. “With 17 days left before the current surface transportation extension expires, now more than ever, cities need the House to follow the Senate’s lead and swiftly pass a bipartisan surface transportation bill.”
