On Tuesday, August 9 from 3:00-4:30 ET, the Institute for Transportation Engineers (ITE) and NACTO will co-sponsor a webinar on the NACTO Urban Bikeway Design Guide as part of the ITE Professional Development Program.
The webinar will offer a review of the NACTO guide’s core bicycle design principles and will introduce practitioners the functionality and contents of the latest design resource for state-of-the practice bicycle facilities throughout the US. The briefing will also examine how the need for the NACTO guide emerged, give a detailed tour of its contents, and review further needs in design guidance and research.
At the conclusion of the course, participants should be able to:
1. Illustrate the latest innovations in bikeway design for urban areas.
2. Demonstrate the need for state-of-the practice guidance as detailed in the NACTO Guide.
3. Iterate the perspectives and philosophy driving the guide, including its safety goals and the objectives of designing for all users.
4. Exhibit case specific innovative solutions.
5. Contextualize the NACTO Guide within the broader transportation and sustainability movements gaining ground across the US.
