NACTO’s National Standards Committee directly influences national transportation design standards, drawing from the technical insight and recommendations offered by NACTO members. The Committee advocates for the creation of national standards and guidelines that proactively support or normalize Complete Streets, with a priority on pedestrian, bike, and transit treatments.
The Committee meets every other month for 90 minutes to:
- Serve as a technical advisory group to review and propose updates to the MUTCD
- Provide technical insights and recommendations for national design guidance and related documents that are developed by partner organizations
- Advance city-proven best practices through targeted education and engagement activities
- Discuss member city challenges, share resources, and present on potential solutions
