Corinne Kisner, Executive Director, and Janette Sadik-Khan, Chair, of the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO), today issued the following statement:
NACTO congratulates President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and looks forward to working with the Biden-Harris administration on transportation policy that supports safe mobility, economic opportunity, racial justice, and respect for people and communities across the country. In particular, we applaud the Biden-Harris administration on the strong transit, sustainability, and equity focuses of their transition plan, and look forward to helping make this vision a reality.
Today, more than 80% of Americans live in cities and urban areas. At this historic moment, three intersecting crises—the climate emergency, racial injustice, and the COVID-19 pandemic—demand urgent action. Congress and the incoming Biden-Harris administration have before them the opportunity to work to swiftly address the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, secure transit funding, and ensure that safe streets and high-quality public transit are a reality in all American cities.
We look forward to partnering for a safer, more just, more sustainable, and more equitable future.
