Ryan Russo, executive director, and Janette Sadik-Khan, chair of the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) issued the following statement on the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act.
The bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act have funded much-needed projects that connect Americans to opportunity in hundreds of localities in all 50 states. These programs fund projects that:
- Safely connect people walking and biking to transit
- Construct regional transit corridors, bringing people to jobs
- Reduce traffic fatalities by transforming dangerous streets and intersections
- Improve historic divisions caused by highway construction
These are important issues for all Americans, as demonstrated by the bipartisan support in Congress for both bills. NACTO and our member cities look forward to continuing to build on the success of these programs.
