Tyler Duvall is Associate Principal with McKinsey & Company in the firm’s Washington DC office. In his time with McKinsey, Tyler has helped develop the Travel, Infrastructure and Logistics practice and has assisted with on-going strategy work in Panama and the State of Georgia.

Prior to joining McKinsey, Mr. Duvall ran the policy office at the US Department of Transportation as both the Acting Under Secretary for Policy and Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy at the US Department of Transportation. Some highlights of his recent experience include:

Nominated to be Under Secretary for Policy in May 2008, the 3rd ranking official at USDOT, confirmed by U.S. Senate as Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy in May, 2006.

Delivered a wide array of transportation policy speeches in the U.S. and abroad, testified in front of Congress and State legislatures on a variety of transportation related topics and appeared on television and radio programs to discuss Departmental policies.

Worked closely with the President’s senior policy advisors to develop aviation congestion and infrastructure policies.

Served as liaison to White House in connection with energy and transportation infrastructure recovery following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Served in various leadership roles shaping US transportation policy, including: Head of DOT efforts to develop and advance public-private infrastructure partnerships; One of 8 voting members of USDOT Credit Council that oversees several multi-billion dollar infrastructure credit programs; Departmental lead on all international transportation issues; Administered the private activity bond program that oversees the allocation of $15 billion of Federal tax-exempt borrowing authority for privately financed infrastructure projects; Departmental lead in the development and implementation of a broad range of policies related to infrastructure finance, aviation, transportation system performance, safety, energy security, fuel economy regulations and environmental processes.

Prior to joining the US Department of Transportation, Mr. Duvall worked for Hogan & Hartson LLP. He has a Juris Doctor from University of Virginia Law School and a BA in Economics from Washington & Lee University.
