Jessica Parsons

Title: Circle the City Project Manager, Emerald Necklace Conservancy, Boston
NACTO Title: Speaker, Designing Cities Conference

Jessica Parsons is the Project Manager of Circle The City, Boston’s first Open Streets venture and a 2012 Urban Signature Project of the White House’s America’s Great Outdoors initiative.  Circle The City (CTC) launched in Summer 2012 and featured  temporary, car-free corridors connecting thousands of people to Boston parks.  Jessica works on behalf of a coalition of CTC partners that includes the Emerald Necklace Conservancy, the Boston Collaborative for Food and Fitness, the Franklin Park Coalition, Livable Streets Alliance and the City of Boston.

Prior to developing CTC, Jessica worked for over 15 years as a teacher and administrator of environmental education programs, primarily in Northern California and Boston.  As the Director of Education for Save The Bay in Oakland, CA she oversaw efforts to engage over 10,000 students per year in San Francisco Bay watershed education programs.

Jessica holds a Master’s degree in Education Policy and Management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.  She serves on the Board of the Massachusetts Environmental Education Society where her work is focused on the development of a statewide Environmental Literacy Plan.  She lives in Jamaica Plain, MA where she enjoys exploring Boston on foot and on bikes with her family.
