Mike Amsden, AICP is Assistant Director of Transportation Planning for the City of Chicago’s Department of Transportation (CDOT).  In his role, Mike oversees CDOT’s Bike and Pedestrian Planning and Design Programs and is involved in various other surface transportation planning projects.  Mike oversees infrastructure work related to Chicago’s Vision Zero Initiative and has served as Project Manager for two major CDOT Bicycle Initiatives – Chicago’s Protected Bike Lane Initiative and the Streets for Cycling Plan 2020. Mike is involved in all facets of bike and pedestrian planning and design, from location selection, coordination with local officials and the public, review and approvals and project implementation.  Mike has a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
