New York, September 9, 2011 – National Association of City Transportation Officials President and New York City Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan today commended President Obama for his Jobs Proposal that will put hundreds of thousands of Americans back to work rebuilding urban roads, bridges, and transit systems in the nation’s largest cities, home to the majority of Americans and hubs of economic activity.

“The President’s proposal will provide desperately needed funding for critical urban transportation safety and mobility projects that have been delayed due to uncertainty over the future of the long-term Federal surface transportation law,” said Sadik-Khan. “Now more than ever we need Congress to put aside their differences and come together to put people back to work rebuilding America’s infrastructure.”

The National Association of City Transportation Officials urges Congress to take action immediately.
